Wedding
Just returned home from a wedding.
Weddings and the whole shebang are such strange traditions.
The groom works with michaelisi and fortunately at the reception we were on a table with another one of their works mates (with some others).
The saviour of the night was the partner of the work mate who, once it was established by the others on our table, that they were a gay couple, turned on the best flamboyant gayness….. he made it all tolerable. (no disrespect to the bridal couple - they are both lovely people…. just weddings generally are borderline intolerable)
I’m so glad we skipped the country and married in Las Vegas!!
( I didn’t even know that Claude Levi-Strauss was still alive let alone that he died this year)
Strange Celeb Dreams
Some of you have shared RA dreams, so I thought I’d tell you about a bizzare one I had last night.
It didn’t involve RA but it was Brandon Flowers.
It was really quite bizzare. We were standing outside and he had his finger stuck in my ear. I don’t know if he was getting something out of it, or putting something in, or just had his finger in my ear. We didn’t speak. Although I was very comfortable with the situation.
Hhhmmmm. Weird.
What medication are you on?
Can I borrow your straight jacket when you’re finished with it? ;)

Profiteering from Friends
For the last fews months at work I’ve been over hearing a girl planning her 21st birthday party. I had worked out that this thing was going to be bigger than ben hur…. but I didn’t have a full appreciation of the event until some things come out post the event.
There were 700 guests and fireworks and the total cost apparently around $45,000 (aussie $).
I was just blown away with stories of the size of the event - it was BIG even compared to most weddings….. I had just never ever heard of such a thing for a birthday.
However, now, it appears as though it’s a fairly common practice (in some cultures) and that it’s really a way of getting money. Apparently the cash that guests give as a gift well and truly pays for the event, with money left over.
According to the birthday girl “it’s better than a wedding, because you usually don’t make that much money from a wedding”.
Wow…
That is odd. It’s the child’s 18th this year and he’s having a joint party with a friend. Spoilt brat that he is I’m proud of the fact that he has told friends coming to the party that he doesn’t want gifts or anything. He just invited them because they are his friends, it’s his birthday and he wants to party. It is as well, on a much smaller scale.
That sounds much more like my type of party.
I hate Hershey’s. It tastes like shit.
How can anyone not like Hershey’s?
